The NSCN-IM has expressed its sincere condolences on the demise of 102-year-old ZV Kahangpam, popularly addressed as Napoleon on behalf of the Naga nation on Saturday.

The group mentioned that Napoleon from Sirarakhong village under Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) based in Dimapur was a “good friend” and said it is deeply saddened to learn his demise.

NSCN-IM mentioned that it was honored and blessed to have a person like him who left no stone unturned to show his love for the Naga nation.

“He was a person who defied his age if the situation demands his presence and travelled anywhere to make his presence felt through his prayer and words of encouragement and support. He was an upright man and we shall miss him dearly. He was also a down to earth and outspoken person who would robustly make his points sharp and clear,” it said.

The statement furthermore said “we are proud to mention that not only uncle Napoleon but his entire family members are distinctly popular for their attachment with the Naga national service. One of his sons, ZV Yaopei, an Advocate was martyred during the pre-ceasefire period in Dimapur in the hands of our adversaries.”

NSCN-IM in conclusion said “We are happy to know that God grant him a full life as he died at the ripe age of 102 years. May the Almighty God grant a peaceful rest to uncle Napoleon!”
