Kamjong, February 15: The 11th Raising Day of Kharar Long (Senior Citizen) Kamjong District was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm at the Zingsho Longphang Conference Hall. Led by Qr. Athei Zimik, General Secretary of Kharar Long, the event commenced with a public gathering at 8:30 am, followed by the arrival of the Chief Guest at 9:00 am on Thursday.

The program featured various presentations, including a gloriously resonant Hokharai (public chant) led by Yangmi Jamang, Member KKL, and the rendition of the Kharar Long anthem. Highlighting the significance of the occasion, a short speech was delivered by Qr. Yureikhan Hungyo, SDC, Kamjong District.
A key focus of the event was the appreciation of senior citizens as custodians of tradition and cultural wealth. Discussions revolved around government schemes aimed at benefiting senior citizens and the crucial role they play in maintaining social harmony.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks by Qr. AS. Mathew, President KKL, followed by the flag dehoisting and a closing prayer led by Qr. Akhui Chithung, Former General Secretary, and K. Aring, Vice President of KKL.
The event highlighted the rich cultural heritage preserved through melodies of folk songs, underscoring the importance of honoring and respecting senior citizens in society.
