Ukhrul: On World Book Day, the Book Club and the Department of English at St Joseph’s College, Ukhrul, organized a visit to two independent bookstores and libraries in Ukhrul to promote the importance of a reading culture. The event was attended by around 60 students and faculty members, including members of the college Book Club, English students, and students from the Department of Sociology.
The students were welcomed by Worngachan Shatsang, one of the proprietors of Prologue Bookstore, who introduced them to the North East Archive system installed in the library. This system provides access to movies, pictures, and documents from across the Northeast region of India.

Mashun Khangrah, the proprietor of Pāsei: Book and Studio, spoke about the need for a reading culture in Ukhrul town and how his studio is an attempt to promote and encourage young students and entrepreneurs to gather and communicate ideas freely.
Students also got an opportunity to share their favorite quotes from their books and explore the books available in the stores. After the event came to an end, the students enthusiastically purchased books that caught their interest. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as they scanned through the wide range of books available, carefully selecting the ones they wished to take home.
