Why are you silent this time?
14 more I have claimed,
from the land you so fiercely protect
with your history and writings

1958 onwards…
Oh you have lost count.
But I grow more sophisticated
with weapons and strategies

The doors you knock on
the courts and the judges
the committees and the melee
have all upheld me

Tell me
What have you got?

We have nothing!
Just our resistance
We offer you consolation and condolences
even in our utter desolation

We have our history
that we will retell time and again
of the times we were battered
when our chords were broken too

Yet, our note of Hallelujahs
over our land and homes grew louder-
overwhelming the hills and the terror
“Gloria in Excelsis Deo”
