In a video released to the media houses, state unit president of Shiv Sena, N Tombi Singh said that the party was shocked to learn that some private hospitals are charging a high amount in the treatment of COVID-19 patients. “It is disheartening to learn that some private hospitals are taking commercial advantages in such time of critical juncture of pandemic,” he said.

“Don’t commercialise treatment of COVID-19 patients”, Shiv Sena Manipur unit told private hospitals in the state on Monday.

The Shive Sena leader then drew the attention of the state government to come up with a policy fixing the rate for treatment of COVID-19 by the hospitals of all categories in the state. He further expressed the party’s strong denouncement over alleged politicalisation of the fight against the pandemic and appealed to the government not to politicalise it.

He also drew the attention of the chief minister to appoint a minister who will particularly look after the charge of health services so that he (chief minister) himself is relief from the additional charge of the portfolio.

The Shiv Sena president then said, “Sincere and concerted efforts are the need of the hour to defeat the virus,” and urged all to adhere strictly the COVID-19 SOPs and other guidelines issued by the government from time to time.
