MP announces to develop Rani Gaidinliu’s birthplace Nungkao as a model village

Imphal: Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba on Sunday announced that Nungkao (or Longkao) village, the birth place of freedom fighter Rani Gaidinliu, will be developed as a model village.

The MP released a book “Keishamthong – in the heart of Imphal– written by Star Kamei in Meiteilon, Kabui as well as in English held at Keishamthong Kabui Khul today.

Speaking on the occasion, the MP stressed the need of paying due respect to the freedom fighters.

Knowing the importance of the freedom fighters and acknowledging the sacrifices they made, steps have been taken up by the Central government as well the state government to develop birth places of the freedom fighters.

From his side, the MP said that steps are being taken up to develop Nungkao village as a model village.

Talking about the book which was released today, Sanajaoba said that the book will help future generations to know the history of the Kabui community.

He said that Kabuis are the indigenous community who have close relationship with the kings.

The MP stressed the need for publishing such a book which can be a reference while writing the history of the state.
