Thawaijao Hungpung Young Students’ Organisation conducts cleanliness drive under the theme “Clean Town Starts From You” on Saturday.
Speaking at the cleanliness drive, PS. Ningthingmaya, general secretary THYSO stated that their main intention behind the campaign was to make Ukhrul town a clean town. “Cleanliness is a part of keeping our environment clean.”
Elaborating on the mission, he said, “Our main objective behind the drive is to educate and inform the people that clean town begin from self. As charity begins from home, it should be the bounden responsibilities of every individual to keep his/her town clean. As a right thinking citizens and a responsible youth, it is our duty to keep our town neat and clean.
He continued that keeping our surroundings hygienic not only makes us healthy but prevent us from various diseases adding that students should imbibe dignity of labour. “Every labour is important. As a student we should learn to appreciate and uphold dignity of labour as a part of our education and duty towards our society.”
To instill a “sense of oneness” is another hallmark of our drive. Participating in such community social work bring us together and make us get to each other better. It brings love, create peaceful co-existence and strengthen localities unity.
Every year, THYSO conduct cleanliness drive twice in a year. Units under THYSO has to compulsorily take part in the community cleaning town social work.
Attended by 16 units of THYSO, today cleanliness drive on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti was participated by 140 youths.
The drive which began from Thingrasa to Dungrei bazaar was attended by 16 units under THYSO.
Objectives:
