Chandel: The closing ceremony of the XIX Hill Districts Badminton Championships, 2021 hosted by All Chandel District Badminton Association (ACDBA) concluded on Friday, at Indoor Stadium, Japhou Bazar, Chandel.

The invocation prayer by Rev. Dr. Koningthung Ngoru, Exe Secy, MYNBA was followed by introduction and presentation by Dr. Th. Joyson Mathew Monsang, Vice President ACDBA. Speech from the dignitaries mostly mentions that there is no dearth of talent in Manipur. Skill development is very important at the early age, was agreed upon. The chief guest appreciated ACDBA for organizing the event so successfully. And express his gratitude to all the hill district badminton associations for extending support and cooperation.

In the Men’s open category single final match, Andrew Lotzem (KDBA) beat T. Thangbiaklal (CDBA) 21-9, 21-7. In the Women’s open category single, Ngaivenkim ( CDBA) beat Gracy Chonglalmawi (CDBA). Ricky of TDBA and N. Hohoi (KDBA) were the winners in under 11 years boys/girls single category. In the men’s veteran single above 65 years, Kala Kale (SDBA) beat R.S. Abel (SDBA). In the women’s veteran double category above 40 years Joycee and Lhingboi (CDBA) were the winners. Two senior-most participants aged 72 years old Tungzalian (CDBA) and Wunganing (UDBA) were acknowledged and token of gratitude was shown.

The overall team championship for HDBAM 2021 edition went in favor of Senapati District Badminton Association (SDBA) fetching the highest point of the championship. It was followed by Kangpokpi District Badminton Association (KDBA) in 2nd position, while Churachandpur District Badminton Association (CDBA) and All Chandel District Badminton Association (ACDBA) claimed the 3rd and 4th position respectively.

XIX Hill Districts Badminton Championships 2021

The XIX Hill Districts Badminton Championships 2021 edition participated by 315 players and official staffs across 9 hill districts concluded on a successful note. It may be mentioned that HDBAM executives headed by the president L. M. Khaute also the chief guest of the closing ceremony along with his executive members in the person of R. S. Abel (V/P) Thangboi Gangte (V/P) Digabou (V/P) MH. Moon (V/P) ML. Markson (F/S) Daniel Shangne (Hony. Secy) Dimchui (Officiating Officer) and a strong team of MBA (Manipur Badminton Association) headed by N. Shyam Kumar (Gen. Secy), Bs. Augustine Anal (Joint Secy Event), MH. Moon (V/P), Aphun Panmei (Exe. Member) and S. Kamsuanlun (Exe. Member) attended the event with full co-operation and support, it stated.

Special dignitaries of the closing ceremony are L. M. Khaute, IPS DGP, Manipur as chief guest, Bijoy Koijam, Vice President, Badminton Association of India (BAI) as functional president, L. Deben Singh, MPS, SP Chande and Commandant 8th MR, S. Somorjit Singh, MPS as guests of honour and N. Shyamkumar, Hony Secretary, Manipur Badminton Association as special guest. Mayanglambam Rajkumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Chandel who is also chairman organizing committee attended the closing ceremony as chief host. Sh. Manglem, Ex-ADC member, Addl SP Chandel, Augustine Khongsai attended the event among others.
