Three Kuki Miscreants arrested in connection with dacoity in Assam

Assam: Three Kuki youths from Manipur have been apprehended in connection with dacoity and theft in Assam. They have been arrested in a joint operation by Sonai and Dhalai police, Cachar district of Assam. The miscreants used a vehicle bearing a Manipur police sticker.

Acting on a tip-off, the Sonai police launched an operation to nab the gang on Friday night. The Sonai police chased the gang and the Dhalai police also helped from the opposite direction. Sensing the police, the robbers tried to escape after reaching Kabuganj, when the police nabbed them.

According to police, the gang was driving a white luxury car bearing registration No MZ- 01/0012 with Manipur police stickers. Ajib Uddin Laskar alias Jinuk Laskar, owner of Laskar Hardware Shop, was robbed in South Krishnapur near Sonabarighat, Cachar District on Thursday. The robbers were finally arrested by Sonai police station OC on Saturday morning. After the arrest of the three miscreants, Ajib Uddin Laskar alias Jinuk Laskar victim of the robbery reached the police station and identified the trio.

Additional Superintendent of Police Subrata Sen said that based on credible information, three persons involved in numerous robberies in Cachar district and other parts of Barak valley have been arrested. They are identified as Dimngel Lalboi Michael, Paojalen Dimngel and Thangboi Dimngel and are residents of Saijang village under Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district of Manipur.

During the search of their vehicle, police seized a 9mm pistol with 15 rounds of bullets, a .22 pistol with 50 rounds of ammunition and a white creta car. During interrogation, they confessed that they had robbed hardware shops in Sonabarighat, a wineshop in Jirighat and petrol pumps in the Sonai area. And they said they’d been staying in Kolasib recently.
