The Naga Hoho on Wednesday questioning the intent of the recent orders from the office of Nagaland Governor ordering the state government employees to provide the list of their relatives who may be connected to NPGs, condemned the “dictatorial attitude of the state governor” who the apex tribal body said, “does not even have the civility to listen and consult the elected government.”

In addition the press statement pointed Ravi’s order to initiate action against state government employees for “sedition” against India for asserting the right of the Naga people to political self-determination do not reflect well of his intent and agenda, and termed it “intimidation against the government employees through threat tactics of sedition and profiling.”

The Naga Hoho condemned in the strongest term the directives saying the order are nothing but another form to “dehumanise the Naga people’s hopes and aspiration, calling it “an extension of fascism” where the Naga people who have been traditionally democratic are suddenly assumed as unfit to govern themselves that the hon’ble Governor is trying to break the people into tribes, groups and is now beginning to target and criminalize individuals, it said.

The Naga Hoho then said it strongly condemn the attempt to prosecute Dr. Inato Jimomi
and to stifle the rest of the Nagas. We assert that Dr. Jimomi or any Naga have the right and the freedom to express our love for our land and in doing so it is not to advocate against India but a natural expression of any Naga who have experienced suffering borne out of conflict and militarization and continue to bear the brunt of it.

We express peace and freedom for all the oppressed and denied anywhere. A person cannot be deprived of ones liberty to freedom of expression and natural rights, it said.

The apex tribal body said it wonder what makes the Governor think what he cannot achieve as a negotiator of peace process can be achieved as a Governor. The peace negotiation of two decades ongoing between the Government of India and the Naga Political Groups is too precious to be derailed by the lack of sight of a single person.

The Hoho while condemning Ravi’s order, urged the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and cabinet not to allow the Governor to undermine the existence of a mandated elected government by a titular head. When one doctor is targeted may all the doctors, the teachers, professors, bankers and the Nagas rise!

The Naga Hoho appealed all the Nagas to stand together against such persecution and
injustice.
