V Horam, an executive member of the NSCN IM steering committee speaks to ThePrint reporter. The 2015 framework peace agreement between the Centre and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) seems to have hit a roadblock, with the NSCN accusing the Centre’s representative and Nagaland governor R N Ravi of pressurising the Nagas to return to their fighting days if they don’t agree to the government’s suggestions on resolving the decades-old issue. “He wants to take us back to the fighting days. No we don’t want that. We are looking for peace and because of this we are very serious about this issue,” Horam said. After 23 years of many ceasefire agreements & peace talks, Horam said, we have achieved a framework agreement. He accused Ravi of trying to take the peace process “back to square one,” pointing out that the agreement for a potential Naga peace accord, “is a joint effort by the Government of India and the Naga people. The interlocutor cannot be given the freedom to do whatever he feel like. He cannot do that,” Horam told ThePrint’s Yimkumla Longkumer & Angana Chakrabarti in an exclusive interview in Dimapur.
