Kohima: Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, co-chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA ) and leader of Naga People’s Front (NPF) Legislature Party, said that election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will take place with or without solution to the Naga political issue.
The NPF leader said this during the 17th Chizami Assembly Constituency office bearers’ consultative meeting at Pfutsero Tourist Lodge, Nagaland on Tuesday, according to a statement from the NPF.
Neinu said that it is imminent that the Nagaland assembly election will be conducted sooner or later. He elaborated it by saying, “If solution comes early then election may be delayed but if solution does not arrive then the assembly election will be held at the normal timing”.

Azo Nienu then said that Nagas cannot go on without arriving solution to the vexed Naga political issue. He also maintained that NPF does not support any Naga political group. He also said that the main resolution of the NPF party on the Naga political issue is to achieve solution that is honourable, acceptable and inclusive.
Azo Nienu also said that the NPF was given birth to because of the Naga political issue. “Therefore, the party does not belong to any individual or leader but belongs to the whole Naga people”, he added. He also stated that NPF, “which represents the Naga identity”, is deeply rooted to the Naga people “unlike the BJP.
The NPF leader then refuted media reports that the defection of the 21 NPF MLAs weakened the party. “But in reality, the story is totally the opposite as the grass-root NPF is very much intact”.
Nienu then maintained that NPF is not a party to merge with any other political parties but any other political parties can merge with the NPF, stating that NPF belongs to the Naga people and it has no ownership.
