Manipur COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 92.44% on Saturday with the discharge of 141 more patients over the last 24 hours, even as the disease continues to claim lives in the state.
Two more COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the state in the last 24 hours (till 4 pm of December 19) to take the lives claimed by COVID-19 related illness to 336, according to the daily status update of the state health department.
One of the two casualties was a 76-year-old man from Imphal East district and the other a 75-year-old man from Senapati. Both died due to the disease at RIMS hospital on Saturday.
The overall caseload in the state has also increased to 27,598 with the detection of 58 fresh positive cases over the last 24 hours.
The patients recovered from the disease also rose to 25,512 with 141 patients discharged after recovering from the viral infection during the last 24 hours. The active case in the state was 1,750.
Meanwhile, the fresh positive cases from the general population included 28 from Imphal West, 16 from Imphal East, five from Tamenglong, four from Churachandpur, two from Thoubal and one from Senapati.
All of them were categorized as locally transmitted cases as they have no significant travel history.
