Kohima: The 3rd “Anniversary of Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana was held (AB-PMIAY) was held at Hotel Vivor, Kohima today.
Addressing the gathering, Minister for Health & Family Welfares, S. Pangyu Phom said AB-PMJAY is a government funded health insurance scheme for deprived households, and it is one of the largest public health insurance schemes in the world.
He announced that Nagaland was among the first States to launch the scheme in the State on 23rd September 2018. With the launching of the scheme, the state managed to cover 2.33 lakhs households, which translates to about 60% of the total population.
He also informed that Nagaland is the first State to implement Health Benefit Package 2.1 which includes organ transplant (Kidney Transplant) packages from this year onwards.
The AB-PMJAY scheme has immensely helped the beneficiary families from Nagaland who have availed the scheme’s benefits either in Nagaland or in other States.
“From scheme inception to date, about 20,000 hospitalizations have been undertaken and hospital claims worth Rs. 26 crores have already been paid,” he said.
He also mentioned that E-card has been issued to 2.6 lakhs Individuals and reaching 96,000 households which translates to 41% of the target families.
He also announced the following upcoming road ahead/project:
The building and other Construction Workers registered under the Department of Labour will soon join the scheme, and accordingly 8584 new families will be added in the State.
Integration with National Food Security Act (NFSA) data is under process whereby the Aadhaar seeded ration cards will be linked to PMJAY portal and thereby ease the enrollment process and improve coverage.
The Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) will be partnering with State Health Agency PMJAY to spread awareness about the scheme through Self Health Groups and also enrollment and ecard generation through their block data operators.
Aapke Dwar Ayushman is a new initiative to carry out enrolment drives in the villages to increase ecard generation. The State Health Agent and PMJAY along with various partner agencies will be carrying out these outreach drives till March 2022. It is targeted to reach at least 70% of the total target families.
In his concluding speech, the Minister appreciated the State Health Agency led by Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Department, Amardeep Singh Bhatia; who is also the CEO of PMJAY, for successful implementation of the scheme in the State.
He also thanked the insurance company partners, The Oriental Insurance Company Limited and the Paramount TPA for prompt and tireless support in serving the people of Nagaland, particularly the deprived and vulnerable families which are given health insurance cover through this scheme.
He thanked the Common Service Centers, UTIITSL, Clairvoyance Technologies Pvt Ltd Nagaland, and various partner NGOS for participating in PMJAY ecard generation.
He also thanked the hospitals for implementing this scheme, and particularly the private hospitals which are on board.
Presenting keynote address, Amardeep Singh Bhatia, IAS, Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfares said Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yajana or National Health Protection Mission was launched on 23 September, 2018 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Since then, every year Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara IAyushman Bharat fortnight) is observed.
PMJAY provides health insurance cover of 5 lakhs per family per year. The eligible beneficiaries are those families which come under deprived categories as per socio economic and caste census 2011 Also RSBY (older scheme prior to PMJAY) card holders who have renewed their card in the year 2016 or 2017 are also eligible.
There are 98 hospitals & health centers implementing this scheme in Nagaland, 84 public and 14 private hospitals. However, beneficiaries can avail the same benefit from any empanelled hospital across the country.
There are 1664 treatment procedures available. Services are cashless and money should not be charged while availing treatment.
Outreach is planned under the Ayushman Aapke Dwar initiative which will go on till 31 March 2022.
A tötal of 2,33,328 households are covered in Nagaland. There are 98 empanelled hospitals in Nagaland implementing the scheme which includes 14 private hospitals.
A card holder can avail benefit from any empanelled hospital across the Country.
As of 22 September, 41% of the targeted households are reached with eCard. Under the Aapke Dwar Ayushman initiative, it is targeted to cover at least 70% of the households by March 2022.
