Gunvatta Sankalp Nagaland held in Kohima

Ukhrul, Feb 27: The Quality Council of India (QCI), in collaboration with the Government of Nagaland, organised Gunvatta Sankalp Nagaland at Hotel Vivor in Kohima today. 

Gunvatta Sankalp Nagaland is an initiative aimed at supporting the state’s efforts in driving quality-led growth across key sectors. This one-day event served as a dynamic platform, bringing together senior government officials, industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to drive meaningful discussions and forge partnerships aimed at elevating quality standards in Healthcare, Education & Skilling, Industry & MSMEs, and Tourism.

The inaugural session was graced by Minister of Tourism and Higher Education, Nagaland, Temjen Imna Along, along with Chief Secretary, Dr. J. Alam, Commissioner & Secretary to the Chief Minister, Kesonyu Yhome, QCI Chairperson Jaxay Shah and QCI Secretary General Chakravarty Kannan marking the beginning of a strategic dialogue on embedding quality at the grassroots level.

Temjen Imna Along, in his keynote address, remarked, “The people of Nagaland can serve as a beacon of quality for the nation. The pursuit of excellence and quality is at the heart of our progress, and Nagaland is committed to partnering in this journey. The aspirations of our common people define the quality of Nagaland and they are the true brand ambassadors of our state.”

Chief Secretary, Dr. J. Alam expressed gratitude to QCI, stating, “QCI’s roadmap will further strengthen Nagaland’s growth journey. Quality and accreditation are crucial, especially after Nagaland achieved universal healthcare”. He added by saying, “We also need credible lab testing for mines in the state, and added that QCI’s expertise will support multiple sectors and accelerate our development goals”.

Chairperson, QCI, Jaxay Shah emphasized the role of Gunvatta Sankalp in empowering states through quality-driven reforms, stating Nagaland is a state that values sustainability, entrepreneurship, and excellence qualities that make it a role model not only for India but for the world.  He asserted that the Quality Council of India (QCI), firmly believes that Viksit Bharat is not possible without a Viksit Nagaland. He expressed his confidence that through the discussions at Gunvatta Sankalp today, “we will uncover new pathways to embed quality into Nagaland’s journey towards a developed future”. The QCI will support, collaborate, and ensure that Nagaland’s unique identity and strengths are amplified through quality-driven initiatives,” he added.

Secretary General, the QCI, Chakravarty Kannan highlighted the role of quality in transforming governance and services, stating, “As part of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Quality Council of India (QCI) will collaborate with the state of Nagaland to build a robust quality ecosystem”. He stated that this initiative will drive excellence across key sectors, including healthcare, MSME, education, and tourism, fostering sustainable growth and development.

Gunvatta Sankalp Nagaland marks a crucial step in supporting and amplifying the state’s efforts to strengthen quality standards across sectors. With engaging discussions, insights, and shared commitments, this initiative aimed to support the government, industries, and communities in enhancing quality consciousness. Aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, it reinforced Nagaland’s journey toward a high-quality, sustainable, and globally competitive future.

It may be mentioned that the Quality Council of India (QCI) is a premier autonomous body set up by the Government of India. The QCI is responsible for creating a Quality Mindset and envisions ensuring quality across products and services that touch every citizen. As an independent and autonomous body, QCI creates a mechanism for independent third-party assessments of products, services, and processes, coordinating its activities through its constituent boards and divisions. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, serves as the nodal point for QCI.
