Ukhrul: The Mothers of Hunphun/Ukhrul Shaiza came together to organize a felicitation program to honor two outstanding students who achieved the highest scores among the Shaiza COSEM and BOSEM candidates. The event took place at the residence of Soso Shaiza Tangrei, Ukhrul.

The two students who secured the top positions in their respective categories were Raheb Shaiza, daughter of Lt. Pamwon Shaiza, from St Joseph College, Ukhrul, with a remarkable score of 76.8% in the COSEM board, and Rinyin Shaiza, daughter of Soso Shaiza, from KTL Excel, who scored 84.5% in BOSEM board. It is also worth mentioning that Rinyin Shaiza is the topper in her school.
The students were awarded cash prize and certificate. “The amount is not huge but know that the envelope comes with great love and prayers from the mothers”, said Linda, Chairperson Hunphun/Ukhrul Shaiza Women.

Soso Shaiza, senior member of the National Commission for Women and advisor for Hunphun Shaiza Women, said “In 1994, the fathers were the one giving awards to those who secured first position in the 10th exam. My eldest son was among the recipient and he was overjoyed”.
She then encouraged the students to study well and become a changemaker in the society. “Our society is in chaos because there are no one who can take decision”, she said.

Remarking that Education gives your freedom, it gives you power, Soso Shaiza also encouraged the parents, guardians and elders to show interest in the students life. That they should monitor the students closely. This will bring an emmense change in students life, she said.
Shaiza Shimva Chairman Shinmi Shaiza and the committee members were present in the program. The program ended with a fellowship and refreshment.

It is worth noting that among Soso Shaiza’s stellar achievements, she was conferred the “Best Educationist Award” and a “Certificate of Education Excellence” for her outstanding achievements by the International Institute of Education Management, New Delhi in 2011. She was also conferred the ‘Asia-Pacific Gold Star Award’ by the Global Achievers’ Foundation in Dubai, UAE the same year.
Soso Shaiza is credited for her role in the inclusion of Tangkhul language in the Central Board of Secondary Education curriculum; making it the first tribal language recognized as a ‘Modern Indian Language’ by the CBSE. Soso Shaiza is also the founder of the first private-run CBSE-affiliated Little Angels’ English School in Ukhrul, which has seen over 10,000 students successfully complete their high school since its inceptions over 33 years ago.
