Imphal: The Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), the apex social organization of Rongmei people in Manipur state, during a consultative meeting at Keishamthong Rongmei (Kabui) village, Imphal on July 11 took several important decisions in the larger interest of the Rongmei people. Several leaders, advisors and well-wishers of the Rongmei people attended the meeting.
The Rongmel people also had a discussion with the Federation of Haomee (FoH) on the sidelines of the meeting where Sapamcha Jadumani and Yazing Vicisy, the president and general secretary respectively of the FoH, spoke and enlightened the gathering on the function and future plans of the federation.
Among others, the meeting took a resolution that a body with the name and style of Committee on Rongmei land and boundaries was formed with Athan Rwangmei, vice president of RNCM and Khonthuingam Panmei, general secretary of RNCM as its chairman and secretary respectively. The house empowered the committee so formed to take up matters related to the land and boundaries. Every head of Rongmei villages within Manipur state are therefore informed to bring to the notice of the RNCM through the committee every case related to the land and boundaries.

The meeting also resolved that a common constitution of all Rongmei people would be adopted to streamline the function of the organizations representing them as well as not to leave anyone behind even if they are staying abroad or any place of the country. The meeting authorized the RNCM’s finance committee, formed on April 7, 2022 at the 6th executive meeting of the RNCM held at Senapati to take up steps to establish a corpus fund for Rongmei people so that every matter related to the Rongmei people might be dealt with more effectively. Kenan Kahmei, former president of RNCM and N. Gonmei, secretary of Rongmei Customary Court, have been appointed to the posts of chairman and secretary respectively to head the 15- member RNCM’s finance committee.
The meeting also resolved that the 92nd Martyr Day of Haipou Jadonang be organized in a grand manner in Ntayphay Luangrian, Rongmei hill range near the Imphal valley on August 29, 2022 for which the RNCM Ntayphay Luangrian has been authorized to identify a suitable venue.
