Ukhrul: The Longvibu of the Naga Army, Ningkhan Shimray, and his wife visited Khuilung at Kazipphung, Hungpung, Ukhrul, on 13 October 2024.

Khuilung holds significant importance for the Longvibu, as it was the place where he fasted before joining the Naga National Movement.

“This is the place where I saw the radiance of light shining down from Heaven upon the rugged cross of Christ. In complete darkness, the cross shone above the sky between Lamlang Gate and Tashar. In the backdrop, a soft, sweet, melodious voice of an angel could be heard singing in the Tangkhul dialect: ‘Fear not, I’m with Thee… Never Alone… Never Alone. I will never leave you alone.’ (Gospel Hymn, ‘Never Alone’). It continued for about 7 to 8 seconds. Taking this as confirmation from God, I joined the Naga Freedom Movement in April 1981,” recounted Ningkhan Shimray.

“After 44 years, I am revisiting the place where I used to fast and pray. Christ, the Shepherd, has safely guided and protected me and has kept His promise that He will never leave me,” stated Ningkhan Shimray.

Recently, the Longvibu of the Naga Army took a tour of Nagalim bordering Myanmar, aiming to strengthen and foster the Naga movement.

In an interaction with Ukhrul Times, the Longvibu stated, “Integration is the legitimate right of the Nagas. There cannot be two homelands in the ancestral land of the Nagas. I don’t want to call anyone a refugee, but there is only one landowner. Every right will be shared and enjoyed, not by virtue of tribe, but by virtue of being a citizen of Nagalim.”

Ningkhan Shimray also called for a paradigm shift in the organization and the public. “God is with us, and that is our greatest protection, hope, and strength.”

Ningkhan Shimray’s tour of Nagalim was marked by a series of meetings with Naga leaders along the border and elsewhere.
