As many as 10 persons died in Manipur due to COVID-19 related illnesses in the past 24 hours. The state also reported 560 new cases of the disease in the same period. With this update, Manipur COVID-19 related fatality toll has reached 536, according to the Health department. It added that the overall infection tally of the disease has reached 37,596 on Thursday. The number of active cases of COVID-19 also rose to 5,569 as only 253 patients were discharged upon recovery. The recovery rate of the state stood at 83.76%.
As per the report of the state Health department updated on Thursday at 5 pm, of the 10 persons who succumbed to the COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, five were from Imphal East, three from Imphal West and one each from Senapati and Ukhrul districts.
Of the 560 fresh cases of the disease, 555 persons (287 males and 268 females) were from the general population and five personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Imphal West district continued to register the highest number of fresh infections with 262 and Imphal East district followed far behind with 120.
Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts with 45 cases each while 21 new cases were reported from Thoubal, 17 in Kakching, 12 in Kangpokpi, nine each in Ukhrul and Chandel, five in Tamenglong, four in Tengnoupal, three in Kamjong, two in Senapati and one from Jiribam.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,213 D-type oxygen cylinders and 447 B-type oxygen cylinders were made available to different health institutions and health facilities across the state today, the health department informed.
The total number of people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the state reached 2,91.152, it added.
