Mizoram recorded 42 security force personnel contracted with COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. According to the Health department, these security force personnel are among the 49 fresh cases of COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours in the state.

This update has put the state’s COVID-19 tally to 1835.

The Health department then said 27 Assam Rifles and 15 personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) are among the fresh cases of the disease. It also said that the Assam Rifles personnel are posted in Aizawl while the BSF personnel are posted in Aizawl and Serchhip.

All the fresh cases are asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, as of Saturday, there are 546 active cases of COVID-19 in the state.

The Health department then said a total of 70,483 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the state till date.

It can be noted here that Mizoram’s COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 72.18 per cent on Friday from 62.79 per cent.

Comparatively Mizoram is one of the least COVID-19 affected states in the country. However, the state government has been expressing its concern from time to time on the rise of the COVID-19 cases. The state government has also expressed its concern a few days ago on the availability of COVID-19 facilities in the state.

Interestingly, Mizoram is the only state in the country which has not reported any COVID-19 fatality case till date. The new guidelines give priorities to primary high risk contacts.
