Six deaths in a span of the last 24 hours took the COVID-19 casualty tally of Manipur to 156 on Wednesday, even as the infection tally of the disease rose to 17,809 on Wednesday. The state recorded 205 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, according to the daily update of the state Health Department.
Among the six deaths, one was a 60-year-old female and others were males whose ages ranged from 37 to 75.
Among the 205 fresh cases confirmed during the testing of 2,130 samples, 198 are from the general population and seven personnel are from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), according to the update.

A high number of fresh cases continued to be detected in Imphal West and Imphal East, the worst-hit two districts of the state.
Meanwhile, a total of 212 COVID-19 patients were discharged on Wednesday, taking the tally of recovered cases to 13.420 including 2,430 from the CAPF personnel. The state’s recovery rate stood at 75.35% on Wednesday.
Currently, 4,233 active cases including 288 CAPF personnel are being treated at various Covid care facilities across the state, the update of the state Health department showed.
