Manipur state like the rest of the states faced avalanche of returnees following Covid-19 outbreak which not only has thrown the livelihood and economy of the affected into devastating disruption, but has led to loss of tens of thousand of lives.
As per the data available with district administration, Ukhrul witnessed 9635 returnees. The District faced a herculean task in looking after 9635 returnees from several Indian states and abroad.

However, due to the resilient efforts of the Health care workers in Ukhrul district and concerned stakeholders, Ukhrul has one of the “lowest positivity rates” in the States, and is a “better District in following Covid Appropriate Behaviour”, deputy commissioner Kamson disclosed this while delivering his Republic Day speech on Tuesday.
He said the district has started the vaccination drive of the Covidshield vaccine for the 2629 healthcare workers registered in the Co-win portal which would be followed by vaccination for frontline workers, persons over 50 years and above and with Co-morbidities and gradually to cover the entire populace.
While thanking the tireless efforts being shouldered by the health care workers, he condoled and remember those few from the district who have unfortunately fallen prey to this virus.
