Manipur on Sunday registered this year’s highest single-day spike of COVID-19 cases with 140 fresh cases, pushing the overall caseload to 30,421.
The fatality tally also rose to 385 with two more persons succumbing to the COVID-19 related illnesses in the last 24 hours, according to the daily update report of the Health department.
The number of active cases rose to 805 as only 38 patients were discharged upon recovery on Sunday against the 140 new infections. The recovery tally stood at 29,231. The recovery rate was 96.08%.
As per the daily update report of the state health department, the two fatalities reported today were from Imphal West district. Both were male of ages 51 and 59 years. One of them expired at a private hospital while the other at RIMS hospital.
Of the 140 fresh positive cases reported today, eight were CAPF personnel and of the 132 persons from the general population.
Among the general population, 59 were from Imphal West, 44 from Imphal East, four from Thoubal district, eight from Bishnupur district, five each from Ukhrul and Churachandpur districts, three from Senapati and one each from Kakching, Tengnoupal and Chandel district.
Of the 38 patients discharged today upon recovery, three were CAPF personnel and 21 from home isolation, the report added.
Meanwhile, the total number of people who received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the state reached 1,30,979 as 1880 more persons were inoculated on Sunday.
The number included 33,076 healthcare workers, 64,182 frontline workers, the health department said.
The number of people who received the final dose of the vaccine also reached 63,324 as 183 people were given the second dose today.
