Manipur recorded 798 more COVID-19 infections and 18 deaths in the past 24 hours, pushing its COVID-19 tally to 51,549 and casualty toll to 825.
Adding 629 patients who were discharged upon recovery in the same period, the recovered tally also rose to 41,782, leaving the state’s active case at 8,942. The recovery rate stood at 81.05%, as per the daily COVID-19 situation report of the Health department.
The update said that, of the death cases reported in the past 24 hours, five each were from Imphal West and Imphal East, two each from Churachandpur and Kakching and one each from Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Noney and Thoubal.
Even as there is a slight decline in the daily infection surge, with 323 new infections, the worst affected Imphal West continued to record maximum number among other districts of the state With 208 Imphal East district continued to record the second largest number of new infections even as Thoubal recorded 81 new cases, 52 in Churachandpur, 49 in Bishnupur, 19 each in Ukhrul and Jiribam, 14 in Kakching and 13 in Senapati district.
Other remaining districts reported below 10-mark or nil.

The 798 new cases including one personnel from the CAPF were detected as test results of 5,720 samples were received in the past 24 hours. The cumulative number of samples tested in the state so far reached 7,23,146.
Analysis of the positive rate showed today’s 13.95% was the lowest compared to previous days even as the state ramped up its daily testing capacity.
The state has been registering above 15% on average in the last couple of days with 22.55% registered on May 29 being the highest positive rate.
Manipur has so far vaccinated 388761 according to Health department.
