A one day seminar cum orientation program for artists in Ukhrul town was organized under the theme project – Paint Ukhrul by Tandet Art Village and Naga Wire on October 16, at 11 AM.
The initiative to paint the entire street of Ukhrul town, the organizers said, “is a movement of art in the history of the Tangkhul community.”
Lungshai Leisan who is a 2D animator by profession helped the participants explore career and scope in the field.
Sorei Keishing, founder of Tanted Art Village, also the proprietor of Tandet Art Café, a well known artist from the district, talked about his struggles and challenges he faced during his formative days and his decision in choosing arts as a profession. Sorei Keishing, in the seminar explained the different forms of arts and expression.
Lemyao Shimray, president of Naga Wire, an activist, writer presented and introduced the participants with Madhubani art, a unique style of Indian painting famous for the geometrical patterns that the artists imbibe in their work.
Project – Paint Ukhrul has all been set to commence from October 22. Projector, street arts samples for the same had been addressed in the group discussion, which the organizers said was quite a challenging work.
The organizers also said it had completed spot verification for the entire art project – Paint Ukhrul.
They also appealed the community to support the project and other activities such as cleanliness drive, including helping generate employment prospects for the unemployed youths in town, adding that such community based project was a stepping stone towards uplifting the community.
Tandet Art Cafe, the first concept cafe is located in the middle of Ukhrul town just adjacent to Ukhrul Townhall.
