Talui: Blessing ceremony programme for intending Congress party candidate of 45-Chingai (ST) assembly constituency, Sword Vashum was held at his native village Talui on Thursday. Rev. Mingyao Zimik, pastor of Talui Baptist Church invoked the blessing.

Making a unity call to the neighbouring villages and Chingai kendra people, Shangreikhai Shangjam, headman Talui village exuded confidence that Talui villagers stands united.

Other than few exceptional cases, there is no question of division within my village. The village is intact, he reiterated.

Stressing on the importance of “know your candidates”, Dr Nelson Vashum who spoke on the occasion said if you are to elect a leader within the family, then observe and study the family as well.

“What you sown today will determine your five years future.”

Post making a brief highlight of his siblings, Dr Nelson Vashum had exhorted his elder brother to act like the real people’s servant. “My elder brother, you have to do that to serve the people.”

Pointing out the cause of backwardness and absence of tangible development facing the people amid massive allocation of money, he had critiqued the State’s weak administration for the disconnect. “The present political scenario of Manipur’s politics is not politics, but simply a question of non-existence of administration. “Forest are in the hill districts but money for the same got spent in the valley. This snowballed into backwardness and this is nothing but a tell tale sign of poor administration.

Stating that Sword Vashum is more of an abled administrator and management than politician, he had appealed the people of Chingai kendra to join hands together and march forward if they have had the faith, hope and space in him to steer clear the road ahead, while leaving the choice to them.

Attended by neighbouring villages headmen and chairmen, well wishers and native villagers, the programme which was held at pre-centenary hall, TBC, began with invocation prayer by Wungyo Lungleng, assistant pastor Talui baptist church.

Intending Congress candidate of 45 Chingai(ST) AC Sword Vashum said, his decision to contest in the upcoming state general election was purely to revive and promote youths and shoulder the loads of the grassroots people.

I had no personal agenda to make name and fame for myself. Sword Vashum who retired after serving 36 years as Indian Audit and Account Service (IAAS) as additional deputy comptroller and accountant general said.

He stated that his aim is to work for the people, for a better future by choosing the right leader in the right platform to produce positive and transformative future.

“Politics controlled and self-centric leaders are the results in mortgaging the future of the upcoming generations to destiny in pain and in shame”.

How and where have we positioned ourselves today after more than 45 years since statehood? he asked, adding that we have had always people representatives going into the parliament and the legislature. “Nothing exist on the ground only to prove conclusively zero level efficiency and credibility of our political leadership.”

Stressing on Article 371C, he said our democratic exercise are reduced to open field for blatant display of money and muscle power. The only way to wriggle ourselves out of this never ending shameful and painful vicious circle is to ensure the coming assembly election by involving ourselves in ensuring Article 371C.

The programme was anchored by Chipemsang Zimik, secretary of Talui village, while Rev. Judson Rungson pronounced the closing prayer.
