Pettigrew College Ukhrul: Book Release

Ukhrul, May 16: In a formal event, Pettigrew College, the only government college in Manipur’s Ukhrul District, organized a book release programme at the college’s Multipurpose Hall on Friday.

The books were released by Sword Vashum, President of Tangkhul Naga Long; Tennyson Kashung, President of Tangkhul Naga Awunga Long; H.A. Khayaiwo, Headman of Hunphun; and Prof. Dr. R. Horam, Principal of Pettigrew College.

The released books include:

  • Arts and Crafts of the Tangkhuls: A Study in Their Cultural Significance by Dr. Sinalei Khayi
  • Breaking Shackles: Missionary Education as a Catalyst for Tribal Women’s Liberation by Dr. Esther Keishing
  • Tribal Education in Manipur by Dr. Khayi Philawon
  • Rise of the Middle Class and Social Structure Among the Naga Tribes of Manipur by Dr. Ramyo Simon

The books were published by Sun Marg Publishers and Distributors, New Delhi.

The reviewers for the books were Pamchuila K. Shimray, Head of the Sociology Department; Dr. Vino Raman, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics; Dr. Shimreingam Hungyo, Assistant Professor, Department of English; and Dr. Ng. Mataisang, Assistant Professor, Department of History.
