Manipur logs 53 new COVID-19 cases, no death

Imphal: Fifty-three fresh infections took Manipur’s COVID-19 case tally to 1,39,037 even as the death toll remained at 2,129 with no death link to the pandemic on Saturday.

The active caseload of the state declined to 582 as 86 patients were recovered against the 53 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the latest bulletin of the state health department said. Adding the latest recoveries, the recovery tally of the state rose to 1,36,326 while the recovery rate improved to 98.05%, it added.

The fresh cases were detected upon testing of 590 samples in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate of the day was 9.0%.

Imphal West continued to report the highest number of fresh cases. The district reported 21 fresh cases, followed by Imphal East with 15 cases.

The fresh cases were reported in seven other districts of the state. However, they reported below five-mark.

Meanwhile, with 5,609 more people vaccinated on Friday, as many as 31,01,985 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the state so far.

Of the 16,13,650 people who got the first dose of the vaccine, 12,86,300 of them jabbed with the second dose so far. As many as 2,02,035 people have also taken the precautionary dose of the vaccine, the health department informed.
