Imphal: The chief of Kangathei village, L Reneithang Kom has countered news reports claim that his villagers in Manipur’s Churachandpur district were forcefully driven out of Kangathei village.
L Reneithang Kom clarified that his villagers were not asked to leave their village by some Kuki militants/armsfit organization.

No Kuki militants or any arms organizations warned or threatened the villagers to move out, the chief maintained, denying such claim as baseless.
L Reneithang Kom in his clarification earnestly requested all news editors, social media platforms not to spread fault report for the safety and interest of the villagers.

Furthermore, he cautioned that such incidents must not be shared “without the consent of the Village Authority and the Chiefs of Kangathei Village, which might hamper the village in danger, which live in peaceful co-existence till date.”
Meanwhile, Kom Union, Manipur also clarified the news report in question that the villagers of Kangathei were not forcibly driven out by armed Kuki militants but were requested to leave the village by some unknown armed volunteers for their own safety, for sometime for their own safety since the village is in a vulnerable location.
