NSCN-IM commits to stand by ‘hard earned’ Framework Agreement

Dimapur: An NSCN-IM meeting in Dimapur today made a strong commitment to stand by the “hard- earned” Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and the NSCN-IM on August 3, 2023. The NSCN-IM said the Framework Agreement “will define the indelible sovereign identity of the Naga people and the Naga nation”.

According to a statement of the NSCN-IM, a consultative meeting of NSCN/GPRN parliamentarians comprising Steering Executive Members, Steering Committee Members, Kilonsers (ministers in NSCN-IM), Deputy Kilonsers and Tatars (Members of Parliament of the NSCN-IM) of Ao, Lotha and Naga Rengma Hills (CAA) was held today at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur.

The meeting focused on the political concept of Naga political movement under the banner of National Socialist Council of Nagalim(NSCN) with “Nagalim for Christ” as the slogan. According to the statement, it was under this slogan that helped motivate the NSCN members, maintain unity and cooperation throughout. The spirit of self-sacrifice of the Nagas and the undaunting fighting spirit of NSCN find meaning from this slogan, it also said. It was under this “never give up spirit” that NSCN asserted its stand boldly during the Indo-Naga political talks beginning from 1997, and ultimately came to fruition when the historic Framework Agreement was signed on August 3, 2015, the statement further said. “The members proudly exhibited their commitment to stand by the hard earned achievement that will define the indelible sovereign identity of the Naga people and Naga nation”, it added.

The meeting also took note of the ongoing ethnic conflict between the Meiteis
and the Kuki-Zo in Manipur and “to remain extra vigilant to protect our land and
political identity”.
