Meghalaya: VPP demands state govt to review job reservation policy

Shillong: The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) today demanded the Meghalaya State government to speed up the constitution of the expert committee for reviewing the State’s job reservation policy.

In a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, VPP general secretary Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon said, “I would like to remind you to expedite the matter relating to the constitution of an expert committee to review the state job reservation as mentioned in the government notification dated June 1, 2023.”

He also reminded that in the last meeting held on July 13, in the CM’s chamber, they were informed that the state government was almost ready to come up with the notification regarding the constitution of the committee.

“It was only with regard to the identification of the chairman of the committee that was remaining pending which as per your words could be implemented in a matter of two or three weeks. It has been one month since then and we expect that the government will strive to fulfil the commitment to constitute the committee as soon as possible,” he said.
