Imphal: The Committee on Mass Protest Against Assam Rifles, COMPAAR, formed by Meira Paibi women has declared a “People’s Disobedience Movement” starting today. The movement was launched alleging the Manipur government of failing to discuss the Manipur crisis in the recent assembly session by adhering to the country’s constitution.

The committee members made this announcement during a media briefing held at Uripok Khoisnam Leikai. Expressing their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the Manipur crisis and its alleged failure to adhere to constitutional principles, they have called upon both state and central government employees to cease work immediately and have also prohibited the use of government vehicles, including security vehicles. However, essential emergency services such as water, electricity, medical services, and the press are exempted from this movement.

Additionally, the committee members have stated that they will no longer accept relief materials provided by Assam Rifles as an attempt to appease the public.
