With the fast increasing number of COVID-19 patients in Mizoram, there is a concern with regard to the availability of facilities to address the issue.

An official source said that Mizoram is likely to face a shortage of Covid-19 Care Centres (CCC) or hospitals if the number of COVID-19 patients continues to rise.

This concern came even as the state recorded141 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. With this update, Mizoram’s tally of COVID-19 cases has reached 1,333.

According to the official source, as the grim trend of COVID-19 issue persists in the state, the state government began to take up measures to meet the challenges. Towards these efforts, ministers and concerned officials of the state government held an emergency meeting on Thursday in Aizawl. The meeting was chaired by Health minister Dr. R. Lalthangliana.

The  meeting noted that only 1,737 COVID-19 patients can be accommodated in the existing Covid-19 Care Centres available in the state. The meeting further noted that six Centres are reserved for paramilitary force personnel.
