Mathanmi Hungyo wins India’s Covid Soldiers Awards 2020

Mathanmi Hungyo, Social Worker from Kamjong Manipur has won India’s Covid Soldiers Awards organized by The Better India in assotiation with ATE Chandra Foundation. He is the fifth week of India’s Covid Soldiers awards winner.

Mathanmi is among the 12 selected awardees as India’s Covid Soldiers, India’s Biggest Rewards and Recognition Programme for those helping in the fight against COVID-19. The award is a recognition program to honour inspiring acts of bravery, compassion, and kindness in the fight against COVID-19. Each 12 winners will be awarded ₹100,000 each.

The award letter read, “we at The Better India congratulate you and salute you for your efforts in providing relief to those who have been adversely affected by the pandemic”.

Mathanmi Hungyo, provided around 8000 kgs of rice, 3000 kgs of dal, kits and soaps to 3000 families, arranged 300 PPE kits and 700 N95 masks for health workers in Kamjong and Ukhrul districts. Reached out to, and helped communities at the Indo-Myanmar borders.

Mathanmi too to facebook and said, “from the contribution of the crowfunding, to be a volunteer for the relief work, to be a well wisher, to support me and my team in any capacity that you all can physically, mentally and emotionally, and lastly to also vote for me which played a role in this award. The other nominees deserved more than me with the amount of work and impact that they have given to the society but it has only inspired and reaffirmed the sense of possibilities what we as an individual and collective people can do. Many have lost so many precious lives, resources but we can collectively move forward with love and hope, to be a better person to each other and to make this world a little better place than before”.
