Ukhrul, Jan 25: In a landmark initiative towards providing the necessary skill set and empowering the youth of Manipur’s Ukhrul district to become self-reliant and successful in their entrepreneurial ventures, the MLA of 44 Ukhrul assembly constituency, Ram Muivah, has successfully secured approval for a skill development program under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0.

The initiative, sanctioned by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, aims to provide 1,000 youths with specialized training across 16 diverse fields while enhancing their employability and entrepreneurial prospects.

The program offers training in high-demand skill areas such as mushroom cultivation, solar lighting assembly, livestock services, carpentry, and professional makeup artistry, etc. Each discipline/job role will admit 60 candidates, after a rigorous screening process conducted by the Directorate of Manipur Skill Development (DMSD).

To qualify for the program, the applicants must be residents of the Ukhrul district and display a strong passion for their chosen field. Interested candidates are required to submit their applications via WhatsApp or in person at the MLA’s quarter in Imphal by January 31, 2025. Essential documents, including proof of residence, educational qualifications, and an Aadhaar card, must accompany the application.

Food and accommodation will be provided to trainees during the program, ensuring a comfortable and focused learning experience.

A strong advocate for youth empowerment, the sitting Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah, envisions this program with a broader vision to create a skilled and self-reliant community.

In sync with the Government’s broader mission to bridge the skills gap in rural India while empowering youth to become job-ready or pursue entrepreneurial ventures, the initiative opens windows of opportunities for the youth to hone their skill and upscale their career prospects, while contributing their share in the socio-economic development of the district.

The initiative also serves as a testament to Ram Muivah’s commitment to development and progress. The program has also been extended to the Kamjong district as well.
