IMPHAL, Sep 6: The Manipur State unit of the Republican Party of India (Athawale) has urged both the government and the opposition parties to chalk out ways and means to address the “ugly developments of Manipur, particularly the drone bombings”.
Addressing a press conference held today at its office at Keishampat here, RPI (A) president Bishorjit Konthoujam expressed “deep concern” over the deployment of drone bombings as part of the warfare by the alleged Kuki militants recently.
He said that the political party took strong exception to the incidents of drone bombings at Imphal West’s Koutruk on last Sunday where a woman was killed and several others injured.

Bishorjit added that the Central government and their machinery deployed in the state cannot execute any significant measure to counter the situation.
He went on to allege that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is remaining silent till today. He then condemned the Security Advisor of the Manipur government “for failing” to perform his duties and responsibilities.
Expressing strong suspicion of involvement of foreign hands over the usage of drones and other sophisticated weapons allegedly by the Kuki militants, the RPI (A), Manipur State Unit president also lamented that the Chief Minister and the Council of Ministers in the Manipur government are quite passive with the alarming situation.

He also accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the opposition parties of playing politics and trying to take political advantage over the Manipur issue rather than trying to bring out a realistic solution.
Bishorjit continued to question the valid responsibilities of the newly elected MPs of Manipur other than blaming the governments in the Centre and the state.
