Ukhrul, March 4: After 106 years since its establishment, Union Bank of India has finally opened its branch at Ukhrul Headquarters. Asish Das (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, officially inaugurated the Union Bank of India at Phungreitang West (Near Town Hall), Ukhrul, on Tuesday.

This is the second branch of Union Bank of India to be opened in Manipur after Imphal. With the addition of another banking facility, the people of Ukhrul will have greater access to financial transactions.

Union Bank of India was established on November 11, 1919, in Mumbai. On August 30, 2019, Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank merged with Union Bank of India. This merger made Union Bank of India the fifth-largest public sector bank in the country, with 9,609 branches.

Speaking at the occasion, Asish Das assured, “The District Administration will extend maximum cooperation for the betterment of the people of Ukhrul.”

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Bhaskar Mondal, Regional Head of Jorhat Region; Diptiman Sahani, Deputy Regional Head; Santosh Kumar, Chief Manager; Pradip Kumar Bora, P&D Head; Senior Manager Christopher Kharay, Regional CASA Officer; Esiio Kayina, Branch Manager, Ukhrul Branch; Mayoring Zimik, Deputy Branch Manager, Ukhrul Branch; and staff from Union Bank of India.

The occasion was also attended by Ringthing Hongchui, Additional SP of Ukhrul; Duna Duo, SDO Jessami; Dr. Reisangmi Raikhan, MS of Ukhrul District Hospital; Achui Ragui, Branch Manager, PNB Ukhrul; Horeisung Khamrang, District Mission Manager, MSRLM; Ringphapam Kasar, President In-charge of TMNL; and R. Ramyo, President of Tangkhul Leihsak Long, among others.

The opening of the Union Bank of India branch at Ukhrul Headquarters marks a new journey toward financial empowerment and paves the way for greater economic stability.
