Manipur records highest single-day COVID-19 recoveries

Manipur recorded the highest single-day recoveries of COVID-19 on Wednesday (September 30) with 421 people discharged in the last 24 hours. 

The recovery rate has climbed to 77.02% in the state, according to the latest data released by the state Health department.

This is the first time in which the recovered cases exceeded the fresh infections in Manipur where the infection tally reached 10,983 with the detection of 237 fresh cases of the disease during the last 24 hours (till 5pm of September 30). The fresh cases included 31 CAPF personnel.

Again, among the 206 fresh cases from the general population, seven persons are returnees from other states and the rest 199 are locals who have no significant travel history.

As per the data of the state Health department, 2299 of the total 10,983 cases of COVID-19 in the state are Central security force personnel posted in the state.

Of the total 2456 active cases currently being treated at various Covid care centres, 541 are CAPF personnel and the rest are from the general population.

Of the total 8460 recovered cases, 2299 are CAPF personnel.

Meanwhile, as per the new SOP of the state government, asymptomatic cases (positive) will be discharged from the Covid care centres after 10 days. There is no retest before discharge. Persons will self isolate at home for further seven days and self-monitor his or her health. Medical officers in the CCC will issue a discharge slip.  This protocol is in accordance with the guidelines of the Union ministry of Health and Family Welfare, an official of the state Health department said. 

When a person does not have symptoms and is not infectious, he is perfectly safe to be discharged and go home, the official added
