A day after declaring Mini-Secretariat and Guest House containment zones, the district magistrate on Wednesday brought the entire locality of Halang village and one residential house in Talui village under containment zone with immediate effect after a Covid positive case each was detected from the two villages.

According to different orders issued by the district magistrate Wednesday evening, one person each from Halang and Talui villages have reportedly tested positive for COVlD-19 and the containment measures have been initiated in the villages in view of the impending threat of the pandemic in the affected areas.

One of the orders directed the entire population of Halang village to completely refrain from moving out of their homes and remain in isolation under home quarantine with immediate effect until further orders, another declared one residential house in Talui village a containment zone with similar directive to the family members of the household to completely refrain from moving out of their homes and remain in isolation under home quarantine with immediate effect until further orders.

“It has become expedient to issue containment measures to prevent spread or the disease in the areas in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under Para 12 of the Manipur Epidemic Diseases, Covid-19 Regulations, 2020” , the district magistrate stated in the orders.

“Any persons, institutions or organisations found violating any of these measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code and Section 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005,” the orders warned.

The containment measures included sealing of the geographical areas, barring entry and exit of population from the containment areas, closure of school and public gatherings and banning of vehicular movement in the areas, along with initiating active surveillance of Covid-19 cases.
