Ukhrul: The European Manipuri Association (EMA) and the Inpui Naga Union have condemned the kidnapping and subsequent killing of 6 innocent children and women in Jiribam in Manipur. While expressing shock and utter dismay at the gruesome murder, the two associations have condemned it as a “gross violation of human rights and an act of barbarity that has no place in a civilized society.”

Expressing sorrow and solidarity with the affected families, the associations also pointed fingers at the authorities for failing to ensure the safety and security of the citizens, especially the most vulnerable members of society. They then called upon the State and Central Government to ensure the citizens’ safety, deliver justice, and prevent future atrocities.

EMA while reiterating its strong commitment to advocating for justice, peace, and protection of human rights for all in Manipur, it asks the media, civil societies, and all stakeholders to amplify the voices of the victims and hold the authorities accountable for their failure to uphold peace and security.

The Inpui Naga Union expressed strong resentment against the government for its failure to control the deteriorating law and order situation in Manipur leading to exacerbating the sufferings of the people and deepening the communal divide. It calls upon the authority to take concrete measures to build trust and peaceful coexistence among all communities. The union also appeals to both the Kuki and Meitei communities to end hostilities immediately urging them to engage in dialogue and work towards restoring peace and harmony in the state.
