Imphal, November 27: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has begun an intense agitation to boycott Union Home Minister Amit Shah until the end of the current crisis, besides shutting down all Central and state government offices for two days starting from Wednesday.
COCOMI coordinator Somorendro Thokchom said the committee decided to launch the agitation against the ‘failure’ of the state government to translate into action its promises pertaining to the Jiribam killings as per the set time period.
He announced the agitation during a press meet at COCOMI office located at Lamphelpat here on Tuesday.

In the aftermath of the Jiribam incident wherein eight people, including three children and three women were brutally killed by suspected Kuki militants, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh in a crucial meeting of MLAs from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had resolved to put pressure on the Union government to withdraw Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, AFSPA, to launch massive crackdown against the Kuki militants, to announce all Kuki militant outfits as unlawful organisations, and to translate them into action within a week according to the public sentiment.
“The stipulated time is over now and hence the COCOMI has decided to boycott Union Home Minister Amit Shah until the proxy war engineered by New Delhi is ended,” Somorendro said.
The committee has also decided to close down all Central and state government offices for two days, but the agitation will not cover education and essential services, he added.

Appeal was also made to all government employees not to attend office for two days and urged all local clubs, meira paibis, other social organisations and the people to extend support to the agitation.
Somorendro also mentioned that removal of the two Kuki ministers from the government is one of the pressing demands of the people and urged that in case the government fails to take immediate action in this regard, COCOMI would take up protest.
He said the next course of action will be put in the public domain after two days.
