Agartala: A rare and fascinating birth has brought Saraspur village situated in the North Tripura district under Kadamtala Rural Development Block into the spotlight, as a calf with two heads, two mouths, and four eyes was born early Thursday morning. The calf was delivered at the home of Sanjoy Nath who is a school teacher by profession.
The unusual calf was born to one of Sanjay’s native breed cows. Speaking to the Ukhrul Times Sanjay said, “I have two cows and one of them was pregnant. I expected the delivery to happen in 10 to 12 days, but on Thursday morning, I found the cow in labour.”

After realizing the pain Nath immediately contacted Dr. Maran Sarkar from Kadamtala Veterinary Center for assistance. “The delivery went smoothly, and both the mother and calf are in good health. However, due to the weight of its two heads, the calf is finding it difficult to drink milk,” Sanjay explained.
Sharing more details, Nath added, “The doctor told me that such conditions are the result of congenital abnormalities, which are rare but not unheard of. He also said that calves with such conditions usually don’t survive for long. Still, I will ensure it gets the best care.”
The rare birth quickly became the talk of the village with curious locals gathering to catch a glimpse of the calf. “As soon as the news spread, people from nearby areas started coming to see it. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen before,” said the Upa-pradhan (Vice Chief) of Saraspur village Dilip Goswami.

Meanwhile, Nath expressed his devotion to raising the calf by saying, “I will care for it with the same dedication as I do my other cattle. This calf is truly one of a kind.”
In the meantime, some women in the village have started worshipping the calf, believing it to be a divine manifestation of Lord Shiva. The unusual event has brought both awe and a sense of devotion to the quiet village of Saraspur.
