Not wearing face masks and not maintaining social distancing are some of the violations by the people, said the police. The police also detained 23 vehicles and imposed a total of Rs 8,100 as fine.
Two days ago, while announcing the week of total lockdown in the entire State with effect from Thursday at 2 pm, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh had cautioned that penalties would be imposed on those who violate the lockdown norms.
A fine of Rs 1000 will be imposed to those who violate quarantine guidelines, Rs 200 for not wearing face masks in public places and Rs 200 for violation of social distancing norms as announced by the chief minister. Further, spitting in public places, which is banned as per COVID-19 guidelines, will be fined with Rs. 500 and Rs 200 as fine for chewing of ‘gudka’, ‘pan’ etc.
Fearing community transmission of COVID-19 amid ever increasing positive cases of the disease, the Manipur government re-imposed the complete lockdown that began on Thursday at 2 pm.
