All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM), has differed proposed 48-hour bandh from November 5 after coming to an agreement, again, with the Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren in a Cabinet Meeting held at Chief Minister’s secretariat at 11 am on Wednesday in the presence of Minister for Tribal Affairs & Hills, Vungzagin Valte, PHED Minister, Losii Dikho, Minister Forest & Environment Awangbou Newmai, MLA Leishiyo Keishing and MLA Ginsuanhau Zou.

The meeting comes in after ATSUM issued an ultimatum to Manipur government on November 2 to hold Autonomous District Council(ADC) election for the 6 hill district before November 4 and without any further delay.

An agreement with CM N Biren’s was reached with (a) assurance to hold immediate cabinet meeting after the by-elections, and (b) with the assurance that no further extension will be given to the present ADC term which expired in October.

CM N Biren from his Facebook handle announced the discussion with ATSUM was “fruitful”.

However ATSUM, nor the state government were able to disclose the exact date of ADC election as well as the the exact date of bandh deferment, in its press note.

It may be noted that ATSUM has been differing inter-state bandh and ban on construction works of national projects in the state for the delay in ADC elections in Manipur.
