With an aim to promote extracurricular sports among school-going children, the administration of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) on Monday distributed sports materials to 158 government schools under the council in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
Speaking at the distribution function held at its premises, Phungreitang, UADC Chairman, Dr Yaronsho Ngalung said that the sports materials were arranged and provided to all the ADC schools under the 15th Finance Commission of the Autonomous District Council.
He exuded hope that provision of the sports materials would encourage extracurricular sports in government schools and help small school-going children develop sporting skills without affecting their studies.
UADC CEO Polly Makan informed that a total of 316 footballs were procured under the 15th Finance Commission for distribution of two footballs each to all the 158 schools under the council.
Dr Ngalung and Polly Makan handed over the sports materials to respective headmasters and headmistresses of the schools.
