Ukhrul: A grand opening of a one of a kind indigenous restaurant, Kasom Janrei situated along the national highway 102A at Kasom phungdhar, opened its doors to the public.
Situated 7.5 km from the main town, Kasom Janrei sits at the outskirts of the town, but that shouldn’t serve as a disadvantage as it is just 20 minutes away with a pleasant drive and would appeal most to people who are looking for a different experience than the normal cafe scene in the town, for those getaway seekers.
The location is well placed as in the name ‘Janrei’ meaning Broadway. It meets at the highway on the way to many villages, located just near the road. It shouldn’t be too difficult to spot.
The eatery is also focused on promoting traditional Tangkhul Naga cuisines.
The execution of this eatery is a joint venture by two young ambitious entrepreneurs, Haomi kasomwoshi and Thochui Dominic Khansu.
“The final plan for the eatery is still yet to be completed, we are planning to renovate the kitchen to a warm, cozy homestay by Christmas, for now the eatery is open to all travelers from today,” said the proprietors.
Mark your calendars.
The eatery would be open 4 days a week. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
As of now, the eatery features a beautiful indigenous wood structure with beautiful dining tables cut out from the main trunk of dried out tree, which otherwise would be used as firewood.
Kasom Janrei is located in a natural setting with a scenic view of the whole Ukhrul town.
The quiet, breezy and serene ambiance would appeal to everyone looking for a getaway from the busy streets and noise of the main town.
In the inauguration program, W. Kasomwo cut the ribbon and welcomed the public, the grand opening event featured a musical night by Tangkhul artists Winso Chamroy, Ninghsang Ankang, Yursari N Kasomwoshi, Yaimichon Kasomwoshi, Soranshok Kasar and Firing line band.
