ANSAM holds its 1st Legislative Assembly in Tamenglong

The first Legislative Assembly of the All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) for the tenure 2020-2022 was held on Friday at Auditorium of Trinity Public School, Tamenglong. The function was hosted by Rongmei Naga Students’ Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) where 17 units including subordinate bodies and Naga Students Federation (NSF), senior leaders of ANSAM attended.

The Assembly was presided by ANSAM speaker, Sapuni Lorho, and approved the nomination of ANSAM leaders Joseph Adani, Paulring Langhu and Seth Shatsang as tribunal general and tribunal members. The assembly also inducted Newman Polah and Rangbuing Panmei as speaker and deputy speaker of the student body respectively for which the posts have been lying vacant.

The Assembly also approved the proposed plans/activities to be worked out during the tenure 2020-2022. The proposed works are to be carried out in the interest of Naga people by the incumbent team under the leadership of its president Thiirtung Warlar and general secretary AC Thotso. Among the proposed works, primary plans includes, education, land and natural resources, social and political issues, Indo- Naga peace process, safeguarding and preservation of historical and cultural heritage.

The Assembly also took serious note about ‘Kuki Rising Day’ and inclusion as restricted state holiday listed by the government of Manipur. Regarding the Indo-Naga peace talk, ANSAM resolved to continue the hard work till the final solution come into place.
