Shillong, August 19: Two members of an inter-state drug gang were arrested along with 10.35kgs of marijuana, 2,736 Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules, 6,000 Nitrazepam tablets at Lumshnong village in East Jaintia Hills district today, according to police.

Amol Nath and Radika Ranjan Das were travelling from Silchar, Assam, to Shillong clandestinely in MTC night bus when they were apprehended during a naka operation launched by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and district police, the police added.

A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and investigation is underway to establish backward and forward linkages, district police chief Vikash Kumar said.

The two are part of an inter-state gang and are suspected to be part of a larger organised crime syndicate, he further stated.

The police officer then appealed to the public to provide any information about other miscreants involved in this illegal act. Identities will be kept secret, and suitable rewards will be given for helpful information.
