Senapati: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) reaffirmed its support for the Indo-Naga Peace Process, negotiated at the Prime Minister level between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) as two entities.
In a press release by ANSAM President Luikang Luckson and General Secretary Angteshang Maring, ANSAM welcomed the 3rd August Framework Agreement, signed after nearly two decades of negotiations. The historic agreement, recognized by international audiences, acknowledges the unique history and position of the Nagas, who were never part of India or Myanmar either by conquest or consent. The agreement recognizes the Indo-Naga conflict as a political issue, not a law and order problem, and agrees to share sovereign power.

Despite over nine years passing since the agreement, ANSAM expressed concern over the continuous delay in resolving the issue and questioned the commitment of the Indian leadership. The Association called on the Government of India to expedite the peace talks and reach a negotiated settlement based on the Framework Agreement, recognizing the Naga Flag, Constitution, and Integration as inalienable rights.
ANSAM reiterated that any settlement deviating from the Nagas’ national principles and historical and political rights would not address their political aspirations. The student body urged the Government of India to respect the Framework Agreement and work towards an inclusive, honorable, and acceptable solution for the Naga people.
