Ukhrul: Responding to the All Tribals Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) call for indefinite emergency shutdown in the hill districts of Manipur over the arrest of four ATSUM leaders along with four student activists on Tuesday by the Manipur police, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has initiated shutdown with immediate effect from Tuesday night.
TKS in a statement issued by its general secretary, Yuimi Vashum late evening Tuesday night said, it is astounded by the atrocities meted out by the Manipur police towards the student leaders of ATSUM by unlawfully arresting four student leaders including the president and the general secretary along with four other senior activists while the student bodies were endorsing the legislators of the hills in recommending the Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill 2021 guaranteed under the Article 371C of the Indian Constitution.
